 War Conditions

By:Roxanne VanderMolen

Things seem to be going pretty rough for the Confederates, or at least that's what Jacob told us earlier. He has hopes that the war will come to an end soon. “The Confederates can't last much longer against us. They are losing food, money, and supplies they need to live. It won't be long until they give up. We shall expect a surrender soon.” The North continues to stay strong. More and more soldiers are end entering our army everyday, but we are still losing great amounts of soldiers. There are people all over the place, so many are wounded and hurt, yet others just innocent civilians trying to help the wounded. “The war conditions kept getting worse and worse, but there was hope for better in sight.” John told us while returning home for a while to help his family out before heading back out to serve in the war. The medical conditions are very bad. The nurses have to perform amputations on the arms and legs of soldiers. There are many other people who have to deal with running around the battle fields and treating the wounded soldiers. They have to watch the people lay there as they hurt and die. There is hope though, women are finally being allowed to be nurses, so more nurses were out there trying to help them. War conditions continue to change, but the best is in hope.
