The battle of Gettysburg is finally over! The battle lasted from July 1-3, 1863. The Union verses the Confederacy. There were many people that didn’t survive and died fighting for their side in the war. Here is what a Yankee soldier that survived has to say about Gettysburg:

“The battle was horrible, the Rebels pushed their way through our army but they couldn't. We held them back good! Until they some how got past us. They were ambushing us, running up at us trying to get passed. We just couldn't stop them. They were just too strong.”

They Confederacy finally broke free and pushed their way through the Union army and defeated them. The Union army was running low on ammunition and men were dying beside them they were losing the battle.

“I could see my friends fall beside me. I could hear their cries as they died. I couldn't take it anymore, but I knew … I knew that I had to keep fighting. Keep fighting for our country to stay UNITED. It was the most bloodiest battle with the most casualties. I will never fight ever again. I went through too much.”
